Our Vision
To be a church creating fully devoted followers of the Lord Jesus Christ who are Loving, Learning, Serving and Reaching in His name.
To grow disciples of Jesus Christ who are better at loving God and loving each other, learning from His Word, serving people and reaching our community and world with the gospel.
LOVE
We are unified in loving God through worship and united in loving relationships with one another. We love God because He first loved us. The only reason we can love God or love anyone else is because of His love for us.
LEARN
If we are to follow God’s command to love one another we need to understand how much God loves us by learning more about Him. We learn by acquiring Biblical knowledge through exploring and discussing the Bible in formal and informal situations, such as in Sunday services and in smaller groups.
SERVE
Service lies at the heart of our faith. We put love into action by serving one another – we serve one another through giving of ourselves for the benefit of others.
REACH
We strive to reach others for Christ through our daily interactions, through the relationships we develop and in the sharing of the Good News of God’s love, always being guided by the Holy Spirit.
Our Values
High Kirk aims to be a worshipful, prayerful community of God’s people. Our core values will inform our priorities and activities:
Gospel centrality – the gospel informs all that we do as a church. We commit to the good news of Jesus for everyone recognising that God’s Word needs to be preached and applied in the power of, and openness to, the Holy Spirit.
Intentional discipleship – we will intentionally nurture Christian maturity engaging all our members, young and old, in meaningful ministry.
Missional living – we will be faithful witnesses in our everyday lives. In doing this we seek to reach all generations and all people with the gospel.
Generous hospitality – we will offer welcoming friendship and sacrificial hospitality to all who connect with us.
Joyful excellence – we will enjoy doing things simply but well.
A Fully Devoted Follower of Christ
PRAYS
We should pray for each other and our church:
“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” Ephesians 6 v 18
ATTENDS
We should desire to worship with our Christian family:
“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another” Hebrews 10 v 24,25
SERVES
We should use the gifts that God has given us to serve others:
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” 1 Peter 4:10
GIVES
We should give sacrificially of time and money:
“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9 v 7,8
