Music Ministry Summer School Music ministry summer school is designed to give young people in our congregation (who play keys, guitar, bass, drums or orchestral instruments) introductory, practical training in contemporary church music. This year it ran for 3 evenings at the start of summer with 13 musically-talented young people and 8 tutors attending. Each night started with everyone meeting together to worship and to listen to some talks. We considered what worship is and why we worship; music as ministry and its Biblical basis; and what the expectations are to be involved in the music ministry team at High Kirk. After this we split up into 4 groups (keys, guitars, drums, orchestral instruments) for workshops and each evening fnished with everyone playing together in the Sanctuary - there was a lot of noise but it sounded great! I really enjoyed getting to spend this time with the young people, helping them to understand the role of music within worship and seeing them develop musically. I’m looking forward to having all these young people involved in our music ministry at High Kirk in the future. Stuart Beattie
