Meet the New High Kirk Interns Tell us a bit about yourself Hi, I’m Stuart McKimm. I’m 21 years old and have just graduated from Queen’s University having studied Theology. I’ve applied for the internship here at High Kirk with a view to, one day, maybe entering into ministry of some kind. Ultimately, though, the main motivation and hope for the forthcoming year is to grow in my knowledge of Christ, in an intimate sense and that if He wills this to happen, that I may help lead others down that same path in whatever way I can. Aside from that, I am really looking forward to throwing myself into the community of the church, in all its aspects. A church of this size is alien to me, as is being a part of the Presbyterian tradition (rather than just studying it), so this year will be almost entirely new and fresh for me. In my frst few visits up to High Kirk, I’ve always left smiling because of the people I’ve met, so hopefully that trend continues. It has been just over three years since I called upon the name of the Lord, a couple of weeks before my eighteenth birthday. I don’t have the space to go through all of what comes to mind when I’m asked to share about the three years since then, but suffce it to say that anytime I think I have a handle on Christ, on What and Who He is and does, He rouses me. I’m prone to want to condense our Lord into a box, so that I can comprehend Him and, in all honesty, feel in control, but of course He will not pander to such things. He is Who He is, and I must carry on pursuing Him and hoping in Him. Thanks for taking me on.
