CHRISTMAS/NEW YEAR SPECIAL EVENTS
HAPPENING AT HIGH KIRK
Please continue to join us at our 9.30am and 11.30am services as we celebrate the season of Advent on
Sunday 3, 10, and 17 December. On Sunday 24 December we will have a combined morning service at
10.30am. Each week, in preparation for Christmas, we will light one of our
Advent candles and will also open one of our Advent boxes.
Sunday 3 December 6.30pm: Family & Community Carol Service
Get your Christmas jumpers on and join us for a 1-hour family-friendly service. We will be
exploring the Christmas story afresh with songs, readings and stories. We are also looking forward to
welcoming back the choirs from Dunclug and St Brigid’s Primary Schools. Please stay and join us for supper
afterwards in the McCaughey Hall.
Sunday 10 December 6.30pm: Christmas with The Movement
Andrew and our young people will lead this special service of Christmas praise, prayer and stories.
Sunday 17 December 6.30pm: Christmas Carol Service
We gather as a church family to celebrate the birth of Jesus with familiar readings and songs.
Our special Christmas choir will be leading us in worship. Remember to enjoy some mince pies in the
McCaughey Hall afterwards!
Sunday 24 December: Please note there will be one united morning
service at 10.30 a.m.
Christmas Eve Evening at 6.30pm: Christmas Sanctuary
(Prayer and Worship)
Norman and Stuart will lead a special evening of reflective prayer and peaceful worship on
Christmas Eve as we take time out in the busyness of the Christmas season to reflect on the heart
of Christmas.
Monday 25 December 10.30am: Christmas Morning Family Service
“I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Saviour has
been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.” Luke 2:10-11.
This short, family-friendly service is a wonderful opportunity to start your Christmas Day by
celebrating Jesus’ birthday together- Come and join the celebration!
Sunday 31 December 10.30am: Morning Worship
We gather together on the last day of 2017 to thank God for the year that has passed and to
commit 2018 to Him. Stuart will lead this service and Norman will bring us God’s Word.
[N.B. there will be no evening service on 31 December]
Sunday 7 January 6.30pm: New Year Communion
We begin our new year by celebrating Communion together. This service is a good opportunity for all of us to
recommit ourselves to the Lord for 2018.
