High Kirk places great value on the importance of small groups. But why
should you join a small group? Pastor Ed Stetzer expresses it beautifully
when he says,
‘As much as I love gathering with the whole of the local church for
corporate worship, there is something powerfully unique about an
intimate gathering around a living room…that forces us to think
differently than when we are in a big room for worship.
Small groups…are where much of the theology taught in our pulpits
begins to be fleshed out in conversation and action. If you want your
church to be on mission, teach it from the pulpit and equip your people
to wrestle with it in small groups. It’s messy that way, but it’s fruitful.’
Discipleship should not only focus on what we need to know but also on
who we need to be. There is no better way to learn who we need to be as
followers of Christ than seeing it up close and personal in the lives of other
Christians. Laser groups create the best environment for this to happen.
If you haven’t joined a group, we’d encourage you to take that step.
