As one enters our beautiful new
buildings, it would be hard to miss the
purple wall opposite the new office with
the words “Life Centre” written in bold
white letters. What is the Life Centre?
What is its purpose? Let’s open the door,
go inside and take a look. It is hard to
believe that this bright and spacious
room was once the old stage. What a
transformation! From humble beginnings;
a trolley in the vestibule to collect food
items, B.O.B.’s store has a new home.
Non-perishable foods, donated by
members of the congregation, are
organised neatly (by Joan McClelland and
Bill shields) onto shiny white shelves.
Above the new units there is a reminder of
the past; the old B.O.B’s store sign, made
by Bertie McNeilly hangs on the wall. As I
look at the sign, I am reminded that even
though we have moved into a wonderful
new, clean and bright room, there are
still people in the community and our
congregation who struggle to put food on
the table.
For them, life is like the “dark old stage”
where there seems to be no light at the
end of the tunnel. What a privilege it is to
be used by God to bring comfort and hope
to those in despair.
B.O.B’s store has a new companion in
the Life Centre, Life Clothing. Rails of
clothing; men’s, women’s and children’s, all
shapes and sizes hang from rails. Shoes
and jumpers are arranged in their place.
Baby clothes, socks, belts, handbags - you
name it, we have got it. We have even got
a steamer to iron the clothes and no, we
are not taking in your ironing!! Joking aside
what do we do with all the clothes and
food, kindly donated by you our church
family?
