Has High Kirk Got Talent? I think we will all
agree it definitely has and in abundance.
From the very youngest performer to the more
senior artists, one common thread was very
evident. Everyone wanted to give of their best.
Waiting in the corridor for their time slot, each
artist was nervous but once they started to
sing, play, dance, twist or tumble their talent
shone through and was evident for all to see.
Behind the scenes, so many people worked very
hard to ensure that the evening ran like a
well-oiled engine.
In particular, the young stage crew caught my
eye as they worked tirelessly behind the scenes
making sure that the artists had all the props
and equipment required to ensure that there
were no time delays.
It was a tremendous night of fun and laughter
and it brought us together as a Church Family
to celebrate the many gifts God has given to us.
Thank you again to everyone who contributed
in any way to make the night such a success.

Matthew 5v14-16.
14 “You are the light of the world. A town
built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither
do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.
Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives
light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same
way, let your light shine before others, that
they may see your good deeds and glorify your
Father in heaven”.
As I consider the Scripture above within the
context of our recent event and from someone
serving on the Welcome team, I want to share
with you how blessed I felt as I saw God’s given
light flood throughout our Sanctuary on the
High Kirk’s Got Talent 2 evening. Thinking of
what Jesus teaches us above - we can easily
allow our own perceived personal limitations
to stop us from sharing with others how God
has blessed each of us. I saw the performances
on show being communicated in a way which
honoured God by all who took part. The singing,
music, dance and performances were amazing!
The incredible amount of humble and selfless
hard work, which took place behind the scenes,
is more evidence of those who were prepared
to shine their light for the benefit and blessing
of others.
Jesus clearly teaches that we should be a
beacon of truth for Him, not denying His light
or being reluctant to share that light with
others. High Kirk’s Got Talent Take Two
accomplished these tasks. It was a Church
family of faithful followers coming together to
show believers and non-believers how God
constantly works with each of us to become
more like Him. The fruit of the Spirit is a perfect
picture of Christ. Love, joy, peace, patience,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness
and self-control. I am a witness to these
qualities being on show that evening. A good
work that He will carry on to completion in all
who know Him. Therefore, from my
perspective, I want to thank everyone, all those
seen and importantly what was unseen, for a
great night’s fun and a reminder that God
continues to bless us abundantly in High Kirk.
