Sunday School
“Following the birth of my own children I recognised the importance
of sharing God’s love with young children in a simple way.”
Following the birth of my own children, I
remember becoming acutely aware of the
importance of sharing God’s love for them in a
very simple way. When they became the age
to attend Sunday School, I recognised the
opportunity that existed within Children’s
ministry and signed up to help out with Little
Learners. Whilst I felt apprehensive and
completely out of my comfort zone about
working with such a young age group, I soon
realised that this highlighted my own naivety
because God does not hide Himself from even
the youngest child. He simply needed me to
make myself available and He did all the work.
Psalm 78 says “We will tell the next
generation the praiseworthy deeds of the
Lord, His power, and the wonders He has
done”. Now, 10 years on, I have come to
realise the privilege that it is to work with each
of these little ones; to share God’s word with
them, to listen to their stories, help them with
their crafts, laugh with them, worship and pray
with them. Looking forward, I am excited to
watch each of them grow into young men and
women and to see how God will use them
in their ordinary, everyday lives to do Why do I help in Sunday school? There is no
