Being the Clerk

Where have the last 22 years gone? My intention was to retire with enough
In September 1996 my family and I energy, vitality and willingness to be
walked into High Kirk looking to God to available for God. That opportunity
help us experience more of Him. came at the start of this year and when
Enquiring minds, willing hands and I was asked to do the role of Clerk, I
a sense of something new about to believed this was the time to do that
happen. God has not disappointed ‘something else’.
and this life is just the beginning.
My daily prayer is for wisdom,
So why Clerk to the Session and why perspective and a sense of humour –
now? My deal with God is that when ‘you need to pray more!’ I hear you cry.
I believe I see an opportunity to serve My prayer for High Kirk is summed up
Him, I will say yes, no matter how in the last part of 1 Corinthians 13 v 13
challenging. He may have a different ‘Trust steadily in God, hope
view so I’m content when He says ‘no, unswervingly, love extravagantly.
let’s do something else’, because He And the best of the three is love.’
knows what is right for me. So, through
                 BB, Sunday School, Treasurer, Francina
Foundation, Elder and other things Gary McQuoid
outside of High Kirk I have learned to
                 trust His judgement.
